A daily India money search — how Unified Payments Interface moves rupees. This page has 50 important questions and answers. Original explainer for daily search — not a government login or live tracker.
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) lets you send rupees from one bank account to another using a mobile app, a UPI ID (VPA), or a QR code. NPCI runs the rails; banks and apps (PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, and others) sit on top. You are not loading a separate “UPI wallet” for a normal bank-linked payment — the money leaves the account you linked.
You need a bank account, a debit card for first-time device binding on many apps, and a UPI PIN that is not your ATM PIN unless you chose the same digits. Daily and per-transaction limits come from your bank. Never share the PIN or a screenshot of an incoming “collect” request you did not start.
UPI is not the same as a credit card, PayPal, or cash. Failed payments should show as refunded or reversed — check the bank SMS and the app’s history before you pay again.
