Federal Work-Study: campus jobs through FAFSA
Federal Work-Study is a need-based program that can help you earn money in an approved job, usually on campus or in related community work. It is not a Pell Grant and not a Direct Loan. You still have to be hired and work hours. GKSchools does not invent hourly wages, campus job lists or this year’s FAFSA dates.
Why US students open this page
“Work-study” is a high-intent US student search next to FAFSA. Explaining it correctly attracts aid-related ads without fake dollar amounts.
Award vs job
The award letter may list a Work-Study amount. That is a cap on what you can earn if you get a job — not a cheque that arrives without hours.
Finding the job
You apply through the school’s student-employment listings. FAFSA does not place you in a café automatically.
Unused award
Hours you do not work are usually not paid out as leftover cash.
Official sources
Changing dates, fees, award amounts and cutoffs stay on these sites. GKSchools does not invent them.

FAQs
Is Work-Study free money?
No. It is a job program. You are paid for hours worked, up to the award and campus rules.
Do I repay Work-Study?
Wages you earned are pay, not a loan. They are not the same as Direct Loans you repay later.
Does FAFSA guarantee a job?
No. The school must have Work-Study funding and an open position.
What is the hourly pay?
The school and federal minimum-wage rules. We do not invent a campus wage table.
