Chapter-wise unique notes — Class 11 Biology

1. The Living World जीव जगत

Growth, reproduction, metabolism, and taxonomy hierarchy (species to kingdom) plus a taxon’s ending. Binomial nomenclature is two names, Latinised, genus capital. A museum, herbarium and zoological park are taxonomical aids. Diversity is not a synonym list — write the hierarchy in order.

Practice The Living World →

2. Biological Classification जैव वर्गीकरण

Five-kingdom (Whittaker): Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia. Virus, viroid, lichen as the extras. Heterotrophic fungi and photosynthetic protists are regular traps. Write one diagnostic character per kingdom the question names.

Practice Biological Classification →

3. Plant Kingdom पादप जगत

Algae, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, angiosperms — and the alternation-of-generations sentence. Antheridia and archegonia are the gametangia words. Double fertilisation is angiosperm-only here. A life-cycle diagram question wants haploid versus diploid labels.

Practice Plant Kingdom →

4. Animal Kingdom जंतु जगत

Levels of organisation, symmetry, coelom, and non-chordate phyla plus Chordata classes as the book keeps them. Nematocyst, flame cell, water canal, jointed legs are phylum tickets. Write the phylum, then one character, then one example — that triad scores.

Practice Animal Kingdom →

5. Morphology of Flowering Plants पुष्पी पादपों की आकारिकी

Root, stem, leaf modifications, and flower as a modified shoot (bract, calyx, corolla, androecium, gynoecium). Aestivation, placentation, and family extras if still listed. A mustard versus pea flower is a comparison. Floral formula is a legal short answer.

Practice Morphology of Flowering Plants →

6. Anatomy of Flowering Plants पुष्पी पादपों का शारीर

Meristem, simple and complex tissues, dicot versus monocot root/stem, and secondary growth in a dicot stem. Xylem is not only vessels. A TS diagram wants labels in the NCERT order. Annual rings are seasonal cambium activity.

Practice Anatomy of Flowering Plants →

7. Structural Organisation in Animals जंतुओं में संरचनात्मक संगठन

Epithelium, connective, muscle, neural — and the frog/cockroach extras only if your rationalized chapter still prints the full morphology. Tissue tables are the safe marks. A compound epithelium is protective; a squamous lining is thin for exchange.

Practice Structural Organisation in Animals →

8. Cell: The Unit of Life कोशिका: जीवन की इकाई

Prokaryote versus eukaryote, cell membrane (fluid mosaic), mitochondria, chloroplast, nucleus, and ribosome 70S/80S. SER versus RER. A mesosome is a prokaryote footnote. Draw only what the question asks — a mitochondrion is not a chloroplast with a different name.

Practice Cell: The Unit of Life →

9. Biomolecules जैव-अणु

Amino acids, proteins, polysaccharides, lipids, nucleic acids, and enzymes (Km, optimum). A peptide bond is −CONH−. Competitive inhibition raises apparent Km. Write the polymer and the bond name together.

Practice Biomolecules →

10. Cell Cycle and Cell Division कोशिका चक्र तथा कोशिका विभाजन

G1, S, G2, M; mitosis stages; meiosis I unique events (synapsis, crossing over). A haploid gamete is the meiosis point. Anaphase chromatids versus anaphase-I homologues is the classic trap. Count DNA content if the table asks.

Practice Cell Cycle and Cell Division →

11. Photosynthesis in Higher Plants उच्च पादपों में प्रकाश-संश्लेषण

Light reaction, Calvin, C3 versus C4, and photorespiration as a C3 problem. Chlorophyll a is the chief pigment. Rubisco is the CO₂ enzyme that also mistakes O₂. A limiting-factor question (light, CO₂, temp) is Blackman’s language.

Practice Photosynthesis in Higher Plants →

12. Respiration in Plants पादपों में श्वसन

Glycolysis, Krebs, ETS, and RQ. Aerobic 38/36 ATP school numbers — write what your book prints and stay consistent. Anaerobic yeast yields ethanol + CO₂. Glycolysis is cytosolic; Krebs is mitochondrial matrix.

Practice Respiration in Plants →

13. Plant Growth and Development पादप वृद्धि तथा परिवर्धन

Meristem, growth curve, phytohormones (auxin, gibberellin, cytokinin, ethylene, ABA), and photoperiodism. ABA is stress; ethylene is ripening. A long-day plant needs a short night. Differentiation versus dedifferentiation is a one-line pair.

Practice Plant Growth and Development →

14. Breathing and Exchange of Gases श्वसन और गैसों का विनिमय

Human respiratory tract, volumes (TV, IRV, ERV, VC), transport of O₂/CO₂, and a little regulation. Hb–O₂ dissociation shifts with CO₂, H⁺, temperature. Asthma versus emphysema as the book names them. Write the volume definition before the number.

Practice Breathing and Exchange of Gases →

15. Body Fluids and Circulation शरीर द्रव तथा परिसंचरण

Blood groups, clotting outline, heart chambers, cardiac cycle, ECG waves, and double circulation. SA node is the pacemaker. A pulse is an arterial story. Rh incompatibility is the pregnancy footnote.

Practice Body Fluids and Circulation →

16. Excretory Products and their Elimination उत्सर्जी उत्पाद तथा उनका निष्कासन

Ammonotelic to uricotelic, human kidney, nephron, and urine concentration (loop, ADH). GFR is a definition. Dialysis is the failure extra. Label afferent, glomerulus, Bowman’s, PCT — order matters.

Practice Excretory Products and their Elimination →

17. Locomotion and Movement गमन तथा संचलन

Actin–myosin sliding, sarcomere, and a human skeleton/joint table. A synovial joint is movable. Tetany and arthritis as the book lists them. Write the filament that slides, and the one that does not shorten as a rod.

Practice Locomotion and Movement →

18. Neural Control and Coordination तंत्रिकीय नियंत्रण तथा समन्वय

Neuron, synapse, brain parts, reflex, and the eye/ear as the chapter still keeps them. Resting potential is polarised; action is a spike. A reflex arc is receptor–sensory–inter–motor–effector. Do not write Class 10 “brain has three parts” only.

Practice Neural Control and Coordination →

19. Chemical Coordination and Integration रासायनिक समन्वय तथा एकीकरण

Endocrine glands, hormone table (hypothalamus to gonad), and feedback. Insulin versus glucagon is the glucose pair. A peptide hormone uses a membrane receptor; a steroid can enter the cell. Write gland–hormone–one function.

Practice Chemical Coordination and Integration →
