Subject–Verb Agreement — कर्ता के अनुसार क्रिया

Subject–verb agreement का मतलब है क्रिया कर्ता के वचन और व्यक्ति से मेल खाए: He writes, They write. SSC इसे error spotting और fill-up दोनों में पूछता है।

जाल बीच के शब्दों से बनता है — The quality of the mangoes is good (quality singular, mangoes नहीं)। पहले असली कर्ता ढूँढें, फिर क्रिया लगाएँ।

सूची रटें: each/every/either/neither singular; a number of plural; the number of singular; as well as पहले कर्ता से; or/nor नज़दीकी कर्ता से।

नियम

1. Singular कर्ता — singular क्रिया: The boy runs. Plural: The boys run. I am, he/she/it is, they are; I/you/we/they have, he has.
2. Each, every, either, neither, everyone, someone + singular। Each of the girls has a pen. Everybody is ready.
3. One of the + plural + singular verb। One of the boxes is open. One of my brothers lives in Kanpur.
4. Many a + singular noun + singular verb। Many a student has failed. Many students have failed अलग संरचना है।
5. A number of (= कई) plural: A number of questions were asked. The number of (= संख्या) singular: The number of questions was twenty.
6. As well as, along with, together with, in addition to, and not — क्रिया पहले कर्ता से। The minister as well as his aides has arrived.
7. And से जुड़े दो अलग कर्ता प्रायः plural: Bread and butter are sold here (दो वस्तुएँ)। एक व्यंजन/जोड़ा: Bread and butter is his breakfast.
8. Either…or / neither…nor / not only…but also — निकटतम कर्ता। Neither the principal nor the teachers have agreed. Neither the teachers nor the principal has agreed.
9. There is/are वाक्य के बाद वाले कर्ता से। There is a book on the table. There are two books.
10. Collective noun इकाई = singular (The jury has given its verdict); सदस्य अलग-अलग = plural (The jury are divided)। SSC में इकाई अधिक चलती है।
11. Uncountable: news, advice, information, furniture, luggage, work, damage + is/was। His advice is useful.
12. -ics विषय: mathematics, physics, politics, economics + singular। Politics is a dirty game. The politics of the town are… (दृष्टिकोण) दुर्लभ।
13. नाप-तौल एक राशि = singular। Ten kilometres is a long walk. Five hundred rupees is enough. Fifty thousand rupees have been spent — यदि नोट गिने जाएँ तो plural पुस्तकें भी देती हैं; इकाई अर्थ में singular सुरक्षित।
14. Pair वाले: scissors, trousers, spectacles + plural; a pair of scissors is। The scissors are sharp. A pair of trousers is costly.
15. Half of / all of / most of / a lot of — बाद की संज्ञा से। Half of the work is done. Half of the boys are present. All of the milk is sour.
16. None of + uncountable → singular; + plural → SSC प्रायः singular भी स्वीकार, पर None of the boys has come अधिक सुरक्षित।
17. The poet and the novelist (दो व्यक्ति) plural; The poet and novelist (एक व्यक्ति दो भूमिका) singular। The poet and novelist is dead.
18. Relative: one of those who + plural verb (who का कर्ता those)। He is one of those who believe in honesty. He is the only one of the boys who has… (only one) singular।
19. Titles, पुस्तकें, देश: The United States is a federation. Great Expectations is a novel.
20. Percent: 40% of the land is barren. 40% of the students are girls. बाद की संज्ञा तय करती है।
21. Each के बाद and: Each boy and each girl has a locker — फिर भी singular।
22. Here/There inversion: Here comes the bus. Here come the players.

परीक्षा टिप: of, as well as, along with के बाद वाली plural संज्ञा पर क्रिया मत लगाइए — असली कर्ता प्रायः उनसे पहले होता है।
